Science+C Professional Development Model

The Science+C professional development model consists of an orientation institute in the summer before the school year, Collaborative Webinars, and Facilitated Online Workshops.

orientation

Summer Institute

This week-long institute takes place at an agreed-upon time prior to the beginning of the school year. This meeting provides an overview to the professional development program, an opportunity to connect with project participants and facilitators, and an introduction to the NetLogo programmable modeling environment. If you are interested in attending the 2023 Summer PD Institute, you can read the INFO FLYER and APPLY HERE.

Collaborative Webinars

Collaborative Webinars

Collaborative Webinars take place two evenings every month of the school year. The webinars provide participants the opportunity to focus on individual units of their subject-specific Science+C curriculum. In the first webinar of each weekly pairing, participants experience the unit content as learners. In the follow-up webinar that same week, participants collaborate with colleagues to develop instructional strategies for use with their own students.

Facilitated Online Workshops

Facilitated Online Workshops

Facilitated Online Workshops take place as needed one day in the Fall and one day in the Spring. These sessions provide an opportunity to collaborate around both skill-building and pedagogy. Activities include subject-specific lesson study, practice teaching, and dialogue around successes and challenges of implementing the Science+C curriculum.
